This image was created as part of a call-out for Scottish Creations on local stories, curated by Creative Lives and featured on the Our Creative Voice website. It was then selected to take part in a physical exhibition that toured the islands and North of Scotland.
I was inspired to take part in the project having recently moved to the village, going out on walks with my toddler son and husband, exploring and finding our bearings, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
I created it using layered photographic images taken on our walks, and loved the final image of the trees merging with exaggerated and vibrant colour in the clouds and paths that appear as if in the sky, surrounding the Parish Church.
For me, these elements add a layer of intrigue and mystery to this 'new place' we found ourselves in, and a new connection, in considering the 'wood wide web' and the interconnectedness of trees. We were all staying local and experiencing a slower pace of life day by day, in a unique moment in time.
You can view more about the project, watch a video of the touring exhibition, and even catch a glimpse of this image on display in one of the still photographs, on the Our Creative Voice website.
The print itself is A4, UNMOUNTED, on slightly textured paper using eco-friendly inks. It ships in protective cellophane with a recycled cardboard backing. We're moving to biodegradable cellophane so bear with us on this <3
