In week 5 of the Get Messy Art Journaling ‘Season of Love’, I have focused on the language of love and how we communicate, using song lyrics and quotes.
I only recently saw the 1970 film ‘Love Story’, but it completely inspired this piece, because of the immortal lines spoken in Ali MacGraw’s soft, sad but beautiful drawl:
Love means never having to say you’re sorry…
(And then she dies, and it’s so sad…sob)
I felt really inspired this week and enjoyed using the petals of the roses to write down words I associated with love and ‘the language of love’.
Love can easily be likened to a rose; a central nub or spark or feeling, expanding with time and age into overlapping layers and thoughts and memories of experiences, shared and together. Good times and bad times.
And that’s where the tears come in because then I was singing ‘Love Hurts’ by Cher because sometimes it really does – hurt – and nothing can salve it.
But there’s bright and happy moments, because is that sunlight there reflecting off my page? Oh yes, yes it is.
