Rebecca Johnstone aka Dainty Dora

"I love the creative process of working to a theme or brief, designing mood-boards and developing stories & ideas."

I also love to swim, knit and art journal in my spare time, and I write for the Mass Observation Archive because documenting my life is super important to me.

Hello & welcome to my world of surface pattern + print, art and illustration.

I'm Rebecca Johnstone, a Surface Pattern Designer and illustrator with a First Class honours degree in Textiles & Fashion Design Management specialising in Print, from Heriot-Watt University in Galashiels (formerly The Scottish College of Textiles).

I grew up in the Cairngorm National Park in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, immersed in nature but craving the bright lights...

Now living and working just outside Glasgow, I produce a range of local print designs layered with my own analogue and digital photography inspired by both Glasgow and Paisley; home of the iconic 'Paisley Pattern'.

My designs are striking, spirited and confident, mixing bold colour and a sketchy drawing style to create an eclectic, individual aesthetic.

I'm open to collaborations and all my designs are available for license/sale.
